Her secret blew apart his life—and now she needs his help? If only he could say no…

Ten years should be long enough for Jack to forget the girl-next-door, his kid sister’s bestie and the woman—no, girl—who derailed his life. Now, he sort of likes his loner world as a missing person’s tracker. Well, mostly. But of course, when he returns home for his sister’s wedding, there she is…

Nope, not forgotten at all.

Of course Jack the Grump has shown up for his sister’s wedding, and by the way he looks at Harper, um, clearly her sins aren’t forgiven. So what—she’s sooo over her best-friend’s brooding, dark oldest brother. Really.

Then a bridesmaid goes missing.

And sure, Harper is a journalist who knows how to sniff out truth, but the clock is ticking and there’s only one person who can help…Perfect. No problem. She’s not going to fall for her childhood crush again. Promise.

Yes, Jack can admit that Harper’s not the girl he used to call Pigtails anymore. She’s all grown up…but he’s not going to get burned again. Still, what’s a guy going to do?

So, find her missing friend, get the bride down the aisle and ditch town before they find themselves in over their heads…or worse.

Dead.

Jack is a best friend’s brother, childhood crush, grumpy-to sunshine, sweet but sizzly romantic suspense about second chances and finding the family you always wanted…

Not a smooth wedding but a happy couple

Well that was a very nice wedding week or weekend, whatever that was....interspersed with a murder mystery I couldn't quite figure out. Then there's this girl sneaking in and out of it all trying to nab a terrorist? But her and one of the Kingston brothers go way back somehow but he doesn't know that..... took me a while to figure out if she's a friend or foe, or misquided and mistaken..... actually I still don't know. My only clue is how Susie sets up her people.....
The not dead bad guy who got away takes us all into the next book with these other plot lines lined up. I enjoyed the snippets of familiar people too. All in all I come out of this story with my head spinning wondering what it all means. At least the 2 people with the silly crush on eachother for years finally admitted it to eachother. I about died with embarrassment along with them when he realized he was the sappy love hero. Once you read it you'll get that..

Here’s a polished version of your review that stays true to your tone:

I couldn’t put this book down from the very first page! The character development for Jack and Harper is so authentic, and watching them grow in their faith and relationship with the Lord is truly my favorite part. I also loved getting to see some of my favorite characters from previous series (it makes me want to go back and reread those all over again) while setting up for the next book(s) with the siblings! I’m so excited to follow the rest of this series. Highly recommend!

Another Susie May Warren family to fall in love with!!

I absolutely loved “Jack”, Book One in the Minnesota Kingstons series!! Mind you what’s not yo love - blue eyes, curly dark brown hair, a guy who knows exactly how to play with children that shows them he takes them seriously, a beautiful heart. And then there’s Harper - an absolute delight!! This is another series that cannot be missed. There is suspense, drama, scary happenings, romance ( on a couple of fronts, I’d say!) - EVERYTHING that makes a good book EXCELLENT!! Thank you Susie May - I cannot wait for Book Two!

Compelling Start to a Gripping New Series

What a great start to what promises to be a wonderful series. I loved this chance to be privy to Boo and Oaken’s wedding, and meet the rest of Boo’s family. Drama, mystery, suspense, angst, romance, and excitement. There are tie-ins to characters in several other series (which I loved, but having read those books isn’t essential to reading this one). I love the family relationships - sometimes strained, but they always have each other’s backs. I am very excited about reading the rest of this series - the hard part is waiting for them to be released! 😊

WOW! Another AMAZING series to read!!

Susan May Warren is one of my favorite authors. Whenever I hear about a new book of hers coming out, I jump at the chance to grab it and devour it because I know it will be captivating.
Her books are full of intrigue, suspense, action, drama, and romance, and they are also packed with amazing life lessons that we can all take to heart.
This story introduces us to The Kington Family, a new family group.
Jack is the oldest in the family, taking his role very seriously, too seriously for some. Unfortunately, he’s let his past mistakes and thinking to separate him from his family; it takes a wedding to bring him back. The only problem is that the biggest mistake he made in his past, with the one person he can’t get over, will also be at the wedding.
Harper is Jack’s little sister's best childhood friend. Now, she’s a grown woman who is very creative and intelligent. Can these two finally put the past to rest and ultimately accept their feelings for each other?
I won’t be surprised if this author keeps up the action-packed, high-drama intensity in the coming series. However, I know there will also be tender, sweet moments with many individuals.
I enjoyed reading the connections to all of her other characters from past series Susan May Warren has written. It’s constantly fun to reconnect with past characters from her other books. It’s like we know them, and they are family.
I think I will continue to apply this disclaimer to all my reviews from now on:
I'm at a loss for words to convey the depth of emotions and feelings I get each time I pick up one of Susan May Warren's books. In each of her books, I find incredible life lessons about the love of God, woven in such a way that it is genuine and not fake or pushed. This one also had timeless lessons on marriage.
Whatever Ms. Warren writes, I'll read because I know I'll be captivated and blessed in a life-changing way.
The publisher gave me this book, but this did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
